December - christmas - Me

Seems the weekly pic is dead, got unmotivated by the amount of responses :) What happened the last month:

Christmas is coming so fast that could not obey it longer, it is the holiday of globalisation, shopping, stress, etc. It is not any more about family and love. BUY, BUY, GIFT, BUY, PRESENT, BUY,... I wanted to negotiate to give each other a self portrait, not a photo, but a painting or drawing :) Naturally, they are all so materialists and selfish that such ideas were refused instantly, they want presents! Money is not present!

I was asked what I want for christmas (small letters, it does not deserve to be written in capital), yes, of course, they want present, so they buy you a present, but they ask what should they BUY you for return. They are even lazy to try to surprise you. I asked for books or analogue film. There is no smiley to represent their face ;) The film was rejected and books also, cause I was given books the last christmas and birthday. Yes, cause every book is the same, all contain letters and some even pictures.

I become involved in a cooking blog, nothing special, give it a try if interested, but Hungarian language skills are needed or try google translate, but usually the result is questionable. Here ya go, boszikonyha.

Will start my own web page soon, will place pictures there regularly, it will be a dedicated photoblog based on customized pixelpost. Will see. Lately was shooting only family, and you know, personal pictures are mostly a no go!

Slovak police planting explosives into travellers luggage

A few weeks ago the Slovak police was testing airport security and training dogs etc. A lot was about that written and said, the incompetence of Slovak governing politicians and their ignorance to admit failure...

But a question: what was that person having the explosive in his luggage doing three days with it? Haven't he even noticed it?

Windows 7 with new NVIDIA driver results in oversaturated odd colors - solution

Here's how to set (probably) correct colors for nvidia on win7:

control panel ->appearance and personalization ->display ->change display settings->advanced settings->GeForce 9300M GS->start the NVIDIA Control Panel->adjust desktop color settings:

set digital vibrance to 0% from 79%

was it easy? what a smart person was it to set it as default and overriding even calibrated monitors. Congrats.

Vista refused to play my DVD movie

Probably the first DVD I bought is encrypted to prevent copying and Vista refuses to play it. Thank you copy protection, thank you Vista, hail to p2p! Stolen movies make no problem, but if you are fair, it makes problems.

Hate Vista and hate copy protection.

Only hope that Luc Besson's idea about movie distribution will come true.

Where does the crises lead?

So, I told myself that I'm not going to write about politics and economical stuff that bothers me, and believe me there is everyday such a thing. And it would not happen if a friend would not have sent me a passage from Karl Marx's The capital book. I know, this book is about Marxism or communism and is hated/loved by many people in the world, but how many of you (including myself) have read it? Yes, thats right! So, have a look at it:

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism." Tech lock out or human stupidity

There's a story about a girl that bought a notebook with linux pre-installed and that kept her going back to school via online classes. I'm not going to comment this as there are many forums with pros and cons.
But, are we really so stupid that if something changes then we fail to ask somebody to help? In that story there were no technical issues that would stop her school activities. It was like failing some test because I got a pen to use instead of a pencil.

Is this story true or fake? Anyway it points out the problem of marketing based education. Many people don't even think that there could be alternatives that do the same.

We are changing currency, not price

This is one of the slogans used in Slovakia regarding the use of Euro from January 2009. Think about it, it's quite funny, wanted to say that the prices will be the same, nothing will be more expensive, but it come out differently LOL

Canon Cashback - Look up rebate

So, I participated in this super program, named Canon Cashback. Everything nice and great marketing just they keep money as long as they can. I sent my papers in the first days of June, they confirmed it 11th of July and told me that I should have my money in 20 days. We are at 40 now and still nothing. If everything is automated then why they couldn't send the money the same day as confirmation? What you think? Yes, yes, ...
I visited the page http://canon.submissionstatus.com/contactus.aspx where I could send them my questions and complaints, it's a huge form asking for lot of personal data (and not encrypted), when you finally fill everything, it throws an exception on the server side, see picture:

Strange, nobody complained and nobody reported this error? Yes, why? Cause you can contact them only via web, I found no direct email address to do so. And the exception - nobody displays these days exceptions to users, why do they? This is the easyest way to keep off complaints? Or a huge mistake from them and forgot about it? Don't think so, for months now? Thank you Canon. Poor services and good marketing: sell, don't care, ignore?

I sent a mail to canon at random addresses I have found using google, hope to get answer.

And do I need that money? Yes and no, but they convinced me to buy with this promotion and I can wait but that 'contactus' page makes me too much upset.

UPDATE: Seems that canon outsources the whole process of payback, but it is not an excuse! My favourite page is http://submissionstatus.com/faq.aspx where they write how long it will take and other excuses why they are so slow...

Yes. There is a function on the site where you can fill in your details and send us an e-mail. We will respond to your question within 48 hours. "

UPDATE2: I wrote to canon, I just got an automated reply that within two weeks I'll got reply, great. Few days later I got a mail that the money is on the way, yeah :) The next week I got it. I did not check again the contact page if they made a bugfix, but I don't care now. Cashback is just selling as much as possible before prices drop dramatically.

Windows Seven - LOL

So Windows Seven will be the next windows OS in few years (plus delays) and the great news are that it won't have the compact 'MinWin' kernel, it will be a 'further evolution of Vista'.

I'm afraid that it will be only the promised Vista. For Vista, they promised loads of stuff, then stripped most of them out like the WinFS, PowerShell just to mention few. Windows Seven will be the almost ready Windows Vista. LOL, they are loosers. Or maybe we are, cause we will give money for it. They should call it Window$$even, notice the double dollars, twice the money for the same Vista shit!

But even if the functionality won't change much and also the performance will be lower then at least the look will be nicer, new icons and skins. Go on guys, we are looking forward to buy it.

M$ Office 2007 not comforms own OOXML standard, LOL

Alex Brown has just admitted on his Griffin Brown blog that Office 2007 has failed two OOXML conformance tests he ran resulting in cca 122000 errors in strict validation. ROFL

So where's the promised interoperability and the open document format? Nowhere, and won't be. The ISO standard was needed only for marketing purposes, a honey pot for blind managers and politicians.

I hope somebody will implement the OOXML in the correct way and start to distribute it for free (maybe OpenOffice?). A good negative campaign will do it...

Open XML as ISO Standard

It happened few days ago that Micro$oft's Open XML standard was accepted as an ISO standard. It last around a year to do so. Despite the fact that it contains hundreds (or rather thousands) of problematic places.

Congratulation to national and international byrocracy, corruption, ignorance to protests and comments, for votes 'Yes with remarks'! There exists only vote 'Yes.' and 'No with remarks'.

After this I can't imagine what could other ISO standards contain that haven't been followed by as big publicity.

Toto vsetko by sa dalo aj odpustit, hlavne ak vas zaujima len sprava. Potom sa pozriete do diskusie, no a toto je najhorsie na celej stranke. Ziadne konstruktivne pripomienky a debata o teme, kazdy sa venuje tomu ake chyby tam su, preklepy a ako strapnit chudaka autora ktory o teme nic nevie...

Preto po precitani spravy diskusiu si ani neotvorim, nema vyznam... viem co tam bude.

Is it good enough for me?

Few days ago (after long hesitation) I decided to create my own blog account. I didn't know what I'm going to write about, so I started with creating my blog and with checking the features offered by this site.

1, Why does it need google account? But let's ...

Then I tried to log in the second time and what a surprise: my blog disappeared! At login they write sth about this problem, but helped not. Seems it used my other email (not gmail) address and now the gmail one. Stupid again.

I wanted to change it, but couldn't find. The only email settings are connected with blogging, you set up an email adress, and by sending email there, it will be automatically published. Nice, let's give a try. I sent 2 mail's from different addresses, and both got published! It means anybody can write to my blog (knowing the email address)?!?!

Is this blog hosting site good enough?
